Orci Talks About Trek Universe

July 17, 2012

Star Trek writer/producer Roberto Orci has talked about the universe.

Speaking exclusively to TrekMove.com (Part I | Part II) the Star Trek sequel writer and producer spoke about his corner of the Star Trek universe, and provided some details on the new movie.

Sequel Name?
Asked if they had decided on a name he replied: “No, but we are down to the final list … Only one or two of the titles on the list do not contain it [Star Trek]. For the most part all the titles we are considering do have Star Trek in them, but just to get crazy we need to consider crazy things.

Sequel Characters
He was also queried on if any of the guest actors play characters considered canon or not:

Alice Eve Canon
Noel Clarke New
Nanzeen Contractor New
Peter Weller  New
Joseph Gatt New
Benedict Cumberbatch Canon

Trek Back on TV?
It is an issue that has haunted Trek fans since Enterprise’s cancellation in 2005, the return of Star Trek to the small screen.  Mr Orci revealed that plans are underway to bring the series back: “he relevant parties haven’t sat down in a room together, but they have sent messages through intermediaries. So after [the 2013 Star Trek sequel] comes out or as its ramping up and after the powers that be determine whether or not Star Trek is back or not – one movie doesn’t make a trend. Two movies starts to indicate that there is a trend and its viable.”

Roberto Orci revealed that he would like to producen an animated adventure, and that anything that is produced/made under the watchful eye of the new franchise producers, should be considered canon.  This included the upcoming tie-in game, comics and any potential animated series.
