Series Background (DS9)

First airing in 1993, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine followed the characters on board Cardassian space station Deep Space Nine. In a charge of pace from its predecessor series, Deep Space Nine centred on a station that did not move and relied on the action to come to it – including the intricate Dominion War arc that spanned several latter seasons. Leading the crew into the unknown Captain Benjamin Sisko, his second in command the Bajorian Kira Nerys alongside shape shifter ‘Founder’ Odo as security chief. Irish engineer Miles O’Biren joins the station along with his best friend, the station’s chief medical officer Julian Bashir. The Trill of Jadzia Dax is the science officer (later replaced with Ezri Dax) and Ferengi bartender Quark. Tactical specialist Worf, jumps to the station during the build-up to the Dominion War.
